Smyrna 66, Indian River 4 The Indians couldn't match up with the Henlopen Conference Southern Division power. Jeremy Showell posted IR's only victory with a major decision at 189. Laurel 60, Indian River 10 The Indians were tied with the Henlopen Conference Southern Division leaders briefly before Laurel went on a winning spree. IR tied the dual meet 6-6 on decisions by Jeremy Showell at 171 and D.J. Singleterry at 189, but Laurel ran off eight straight wins, including three forfeits, to put the outcome out of reach. Bokinsky scored the Indians' other points with a major decision at 130. Indian River 48, Delmar 18 The Indians rolled to their third win of the season with an easy Henlopen Conference Southern Division triumph. Ahead 27-19, the Indians closed the dual meet out with four straight victories, including three pins by Elliott at 112, Middleton at 119, Pat Devine at 125, and Bokinsky at 130. IR jumped out to a 12-0 edge over Delmar with decisions by Cody Jensen at 135, Chris Reid at 140, Tim Butters at 145, and Phil Hall at 152. Jeremy Showell recorded a technical fall at 171 and D.J. Singleterry posted a major decision at 189. Seaford 51, Indian River 22 The Indians won three of the seven matches wrestled but couldn't overcome five forfeits. IR took a 12-6 lead on two early forfeits from Seaford but proceeded to surrender a decision and three straight forfeits to fall behind 27-12. Tim Butters then brought the Indians within 27-16 on a major decision at 145, but they wouldn't win again until Jeremy Showell's decision at 171. D.J. Singleterry scored IR's other points on a decision at 189. Cape Henlopen 60, Indian River 11 The Indians surrendered seven forfeits in a Henlopen Conference loss to Cape Henlopen. Indian River's wins were on major decisions by Pat Devine at 125 and D.J. Singleterry at 189 and a decision by Chris Reed at 140. Sussex Central 63, Indian River 12 The Indians forfeited four matches and won only two as they fell to their district rivals. Tremayne Mooreman scored IR's only pin at 215. In addition to the four forfeits, Sussex Central scored five pins to remain unbeaten. Indian River 34, Sussex Tech 31 The Indians stopped their four-match losing streak with a win over Sussex Tech. IR pulled out to leads of 25-6 and 34-21 before Tech rallied to close the gap at the end. Darryl Singleterry clinched the victory with a decision at 189 that gave the Indians their 34-21 lead. The Indians got pins from Pat Devine at 119, Cody Jensen at 135, and Jeremy Showell at 171. Other winners for the Indians were Middleton by a decision at 112 and Elliott and Bokinsky by a technical fall at 125 and 130, respectively. Caesar Rodney 65, Indian River 9 The Indians' losing streak reached four straight dual meets as they fell to the Henlopen Conference Northern Division powers. IR started off with a 9-0 lead but lost the final 12 matches, including three by forfeit. Pat Devine won his match at 119 by a major decision. Lake Forest 43, Indian River 28 The Indians dropped the Henlopen Conference Southern Division dual meet to fall to 1-2 in the conference and 1-4 overall. Indian River got a pin from Tremayne Mooreman in the heavyweight match. Milford 63, Indian River 9 The Indians managed only two victories in dropping the Henlopen Conference Southern Division dual meet. D.J. Singleterry won on a first period pin at 189 pounds and Pat Devine won by decision at 125. The Indians, now 1-1 in the conference and 1-3 overall, surrendered three forfeits and six pins. Indian River 56, Woodbridge 15 The Indians recorded their first victory of the season with four pins and a technical fall in a Henlopen Conference dual meet. The Indians got pins from Elliott at 112, Cody Jensen at 135, Jeremy Showell at 171, and D.J. Singleterry at 189. Pat Devine registered a technical fall at 125. Phil Hall won by a narrow 8-7 decision at 152. The win over Woodbridge raised Indian River to 1-2 in the conference and overall. Dover 36, Indian River 35 The Indians dropped their second consecutive Henlopen Conference dual meet after mounting a major comeback. Down 36-20, the Indians won the last three matches to account for the final score. Trailing by 16 points following the 130-pound match, IR used a pin from Cody Jensen at 135 and a forfeit at 140 to set the stage for a dramatic meet-ending finish in the 145-pound match. IR's Tim Butters won that match by decision but couldn't pull off the major decision, technical fall or pin needed for the tie or victory. Besides Jensen, D.J. Singleterry and Chris Bishop posted pins at 189 and heavyweight, respectively. Polytech 53, Indian River 22 The Indians lost 10 of the 14 matches as they dropped their Henlopen Conference dual meet opener. The Indians did record three pins in the meet, as Cody Jensen (135), Chris Reid (140) and Jeremy Showell (171) won their matches by fall. Pat Devine registered a major decision at 125. |
