Seaford 57, Laurel 17 The Bulldogs lost for the eighth straight time as they scored only 9 points over the final three quarters. Seaford led 17-8 after the first quarter and padded the lead in each of the final three periods as it bombed away from outside with 9 three-pointers. Laurel was led by Kirstin Johnson, who scored 6 points. Delmar 67, Laurel 28 The Bulldogs scored only three points in each of the first and third quarters in suffering their second straight Henlopen Conference Southern Division loss to Delmar. Lenona Stancell led Laurel with 13 points, including a three-pointer. Delmar 47, Laurel 39 The Bulldogs saw a golden opportunity to end their losing streak slip away in the fourth quarter of the Henlopen Conference Southern Division defeat. Laurel outscored Delmar 17-9 in the third quarter to take a 35-32 advantage into the fourth period. But the Bulldogs then scored only 4 points in the final period to suffer their fourth consecutive loss. Ashley Bennett and Kirstin Johnson scored 12 points apiece for Laurel. Lenona Stancell added 10 more. Polytech 51, Laurel 26 The Bulldogs stayed surprisingly close to the Henlopen Conference Northern Division leaders in the first half but were outscored 22-6 in the third period. Lenona Stancell's 17 points paced Laurel. Cape Henlopen 60, Laurel 43 The Bulldogs fell behind early again and couldn't recover in the Henlopen Conference defeat. Laurel trailed Cape Henlopen 19-7 after one quarter and 36-17 at halftime. Lenona Stancell paced the Bulldogs with 14 points, including three of the Bulldogs' five three-pointers. Kurstan Johnson added 11 points. Sussex Tech 77, Laurel 26 The Bulldogs were shut out in the first quarter and never recovered. Laurel fell behind Sussex Tech 21-0 after the first period and trailed 31-6 at halftime. Sierra Bolden scored 9 points -- all on three-pointers -- while Lenona Stancell chipped in with 8 points. Caesar Rodney 80, Laurel 15 The Bulldogs lost for the fifth straight time as they were no match for the powerhouse Riders from the Henlopen Conference Northern Division. Laurel's leading scorers were Rashawna Lagrand and Kurstan Johnson with 4 points apiece. After scoring 8 points in the first period, Laurel managed only 7 points the rest of the way. Dover 65, Laurel 32 The Bulldogs dropped their fourth straight game as they fell to 1-5 in the conference and 3-6 overall. Laurel trailed 35-18 at halftime and never recovered. Lenona Stancell was the only Bulldog in double figures with 11 points. Lake Forest 46, Laurel 32 The Bulldogs fell behind early and couldn't recover in their second straight Henlopen Conference Southern Division defeat. Laurel, in dropping to 1-3 in the conference and overal, fell behind 19-13 at halftime. Lenona Stancell led the Bulldogs with 14 points. Ashley Bennett added 7. Milford 28, Laurel 26 The Bulldogs nearly came all the way back from a disastrous first half but came up short in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division loss. In falling to 1-2 in the conference and overall, Laurel trailed Milford 16-7 at halftime before outscoring the Bucs by six points in the second half. Lenona Stancell led all scorers with 15 points. Laurel 47, Woodbridge 33 The Bulldogs recorded their first victory of the season to even their record at 1-1. Laurel opened a 20-8 first quarter lead over Woodbridge and made it stand up the rest of the way. The Bulldogs were led by Ashley Bennett's 13 points and Cierra Bolden's 10 points. Melinda Clark contributed 8 more. Indian River 40, Laurel 27 The Bulldogs suffered a Henlopen Conference Southern Division loss in their season-opener. Lenona Stancell scored 16 points and sank 3 three-pointers for Laurel. The Bulldogs led Indian River 10-6 after the first quarter but the Indians held Laurel to just 8 points in the second half to remain unbeaten. |
