Sussex Central 68, Milford 53 The Bucs fell behind at halftime and couldn't catch up to one of the Henlopen Conference Northern Division leaders. Larry Rykard scored 20 points for the Bucs, while George Downing added 11. Milford fell behind Sussex Central 43-28 at halftime. Laurel 65, Milford 43 The Bucs were all but eliminated from the Henlopen Conference Southern Division race with the loss to the division leaders. Milford was outscored 23-9 by Laurel in the second half. Lamar Shorts paced the Bucs with 10 points. Larry Rykard and George Downing added 8 points apiece. Milford 66, Lake Forest 39 The Bucs cruised to the Henlopen Conference Southern Division victory after a big first half. Milford jumped out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter and a 38-20 lead at halftime. The Bucs then closed the game out with a 19-9 advantage in the fourth quarter. George Downing and Lamar Short were the Bucs' leading scorers with 12 points apiece. Jamar Freeman added 10 points and R.J. Chandler had 9 points. St. Mark's 65, Milford 41 The Bucs had no answers for their upstate foes in the nonconference game. Derek King led Milford with 14 points. George Downing added 8 for the Bucs, who trailed 34-22 at halftime and were then outscored 19-8 in the third period. Milford 47, St. Elizabeth 34 The Bucs turned their foul sooting problems around and used the free throw line to secure the nonconference victory. Milford shot 15 of 18 from the line to rise to 7-5 overall. Three Bucs were in double figures, with Larry Rykard, George Downing and Lamar Short scoring 10 points apiece. Milford has won four of its last five outings. Dover 65, Milford 36 The Bucs had their three-game winning streak snapped as they scored only 14 points in the first half. Milford put no one in double figures. Jamar Freeman led the Bucs with 8 points. Milford 51, Seaford 46 The Bucs collected their third straight victory as they took advantage of foul shots to record the Henlopen Conference triumph. Milford made 11 of its 17 free throws while Seaford took only 3. The Bucs had their 24-19 halftime lead sliced to one by the end of the third quarter but they rallied in the fourth quarter to hold on. George Downing and Larry Rykard scored 11 points apiece to pace the Bucs. Jamar Freeman and Derek King added 8 points each. Milford 43, Smyrna 35 The Bucs won their second straight game after breaking open a close Henlopen Conference Southern Division game in the fourth quarter. Milford led just 30-29 entering the final period before outscoring Smyrna 13-6 in the fourth. No Bucs reached double figures. Derek King sparked the win with 7 points. Larry Rykard, Lamar Short, Jamar Freeman and R.J. Chandler added 6 points apiece to a balanced attack. Milford 59, Polytech 46 The Bucs broke a two-game losing streak and in the process rose to the .500 mark again. Now 4-4 in the Henlopen Conference and overall, the Bucs took a 33-25 halftime lead and never let Polytech back in the game. Lamar Short sparked the triumph with a game-high 18 points. George Downing contributed 13 points for Milford. Cape Henlopen 69, Milford 60 The Bucs fell below the .500 mark for the first time this season with the Henlopen Conference loss. Milford fell behind Cape Henlopen 50-32 after three quarters. The Bucs were led by Welch with 13 points and Derek King and Hykeen Bunch with 11 points apiece. Sussex Tech 65, Milford 51 The Bucs fell to the .500 mark with the Henlopen Conference defeat. Milford was within striking distance as it trailed Sussex Tech 29-25 at halftime, but the Bucs were outscored 16-7 in the third period. Jon Stratton was the only Buc in double figures with 10 points. Milford is 3-3 in the conference and overall with its third loss in the last four games. Milford 54, Woodbridge 40 The Bucs took control of the Henlopen Conference Southern Division game from the outset as they rose to 3-2 in the conference and overall. Milford jumped out to an 18-8 lead over Woodbridge after one quarter and never looked back. Jamare Freeman led the Bucs with 11 points. George Downing and Larry Rykard added 9 points apiece. Indian River 43, Milford 42 The Bucs suffered their second straight loss, this time in heart-breaking fashion, as their record evened out at 2-2 in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division and overall. Indian River won the game when Thurman Hagans hit a three-pointer from nearly half-court as the buzzer sounded. The Bucs had taken a 24-19 halftime lead but saw the Indians catch up entering the fourth quarter at 34-34. R.J. Chandler scored 11 points to lead the Bucs, while Jamare Freeman tossed in 7 more points. Laurel 66, Milford 60 The Bucs fell behind early but couldn't come back this time in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division loss to the division's preseason favorites. Milford trailed Laurel 28-16 at halftime. The Bucs were led by Larry Rykard with 13 points including a pair of three-pointers. R.J. Chandler, George Downing and Jamare Freeman added 9 points apiece. Milford 54, Delmar 46 The Bucs came back from a halftime deficit to remain unbeaten with the Henlopen Conference Southern Division triumph. In rising to 2-0, the Bucs had to overcome a 32-24 halftime deficit. They outscored Delmar 13-7 in the third quarter and 17-7 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. The Bucs didn't put anyone in double figures but four players scored 9 points apiece -- Derek King, Hykeem Bunch, George Downing and Jamare Freeman. |
