Milford 41, Sussex Central 26
The Bucs rebounded from their disappointing loss to Smyrna to knock off the perennial Henlopen Conference powers for the first time since 1990.
In beat Sussex Central for only the second time in the last 22 years, the Bucs jumped out to leads of 23-6 and 34-11.
Tied 6-6 on a forfeit by Central and an injury default by Milford, the Bucs took control on a technical fall by Jimmy Artis at 103, a pin by Nathan Fleming at 112 and a decision by Nick Creasey at 119.
Central pulled within 23-11 on a technical fall, but the Bucs ran off three straight wins on decisions by Josh Abraham (130) and Allan Passwaters (140) and a technical fall by Keith Brown (135) to go up 34-11.
Dan Donovan picked up Milford's final win on the mat with a decision at 152.
Smyrna 41, Milford 28
The Bucs' hopes for an outright Henlopen Conference Southern Division title were shattered by the defending Southern Division champions in a dual meet rescheduled from Friday, Feb. 7, due to snow.
The Bucs gave up four pins and a forfeit in the loss to Smyrna.
Falling behind 34-14 after a forfeit at 215, the Bucs rallied on a pin by Brandon Baynard at heavyweight and a technical fall at 103 by Jimmy Artis to pull within 34-25. A decision by Nathan Fleming at 112 then brought Milford to within 34-28.
The Bucs' hopes were then dashed for good in the final match when, instead of getting the pin they needed to tie, they were pinned.
Milford took an early 8-6 lead on a technical fall by Josh Abraham at 130 and a decision by Keith Brown at 135.
Smyrna then reeled off four straight wins, including a pin and a technical fall, to go up 22-8. Milford's Kris Kendzierski recorded a pin at 171 to make it 22-14.
Caesar Rodney 53, Milford 8
The Bucs suffered their first dual meet loss of the season at the hands of the seven-time defending Henlopen Conference dual meet champions.
The Bucs still have a shot at the Henlopen South title, however, if they can beat Smyrna and Laurel in their last two division dual meets next month.
Against CR, Milford managed only two wins -- a technical fall by Josh Abraham at 130 and a decision by Josh Chilcote at 125.
The Bucs forfeited two matches, at 189 and 215.
Milford 59, Dover 9
The Bucs remained unbeaten in dual meets with the easy victory. Milford registered six pins, with Nathan Fleming (112), Josh Chilcote (125), Josh Abraham (130), Keith Brown (135), David Marvel (145) and Brandon Baynard (Hwt.) winning their matches by fall.
Milford 52, Seaford 19
The Bucs rose to 6-0 in dual meets and remained in first place in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division. Milford used four pins to subdue Seaford. Recording the pins were Jimmy Artis (103), Josh Abraham (130), Kris Kendzierski (171) and Brandon Kendzierski (215).
Milford 35, Cape Henlopen 23
The Bucs remained unbeaten as they improved to 5-0 in dual meets. Milford took the first five matches from Cape Henlopen. Nathan Fleming and Nick Creasey won by pin at 112 and 119, respectively.
Milford 49, Sussex Tech 18
The Bucs remained unbeaten as they rolled to their fourth straight victory to open the season.
After losing the first match at heavyweight, the Bucs stormed past Sussex Tech with six straight wins for a 31-3 lead.
The Bucs recorded five pins in the win, with Nathan Fleming (112), Josh Abraham (130), Keith Brown (135), Dan Donovan (152) and Kris Kendzierski (171) all winning by fall.
Jimmy Artis and Josh Chilcote won by technical falls at 103 and 125, respectively, while Nick Creasey (119), David Marvel (145) and Brandon Kendzierski (215) all won by decision.
Milford 74, Woodbridge 0
The Bucs became the second straight team to shut Woodbridge out as they took advantage of five forfeits.
Milford also had five pins from Nathan Fleming (112), Josh Abraham (130), Kris Kendzierski (171), David Marvel (145) and Ian Ferguson (160). Fleming, Abraham and Kendzierski posted their falls in less than a minute each.
Other winners were Keith Brown with a technical fall at 135, and Josh Chilicote, Allan Passwaters and Dan Donovan with decisions at 125, 140 and 152, respectively.
Milford is now 3-0 in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division and overall.
Milford 63, Indian River 9
The Bucs wasted no time dispatching Indian River in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division dual meet.
Winning the first six matches, Milford stormed to a 29-0 lead before IR finally got on the board.
Starting with Keith Brown's pin at 135 and Allan Passwaters' pin at 140, the Bucs finished the dual meet with six pins and three victories by forfeit.
After Passwaters' pin put the Bucs up 12-0, David Marvel won by a major decison at 145, Dan Donovan won by decision at 152, Ian Ferguson registered a pin at 160, and Kris Kendzierski posted a major decision at 171.
Brandon Kendzierski (215), Nathan Fleming (112) and Nick Creasey (119) all recorded pins for the Bucs, who rose to 3-0 in the conference and overall.
Milford 65, Delmar 9
The Bucs stormed to a season-opening dual meet victory in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division.
Using six pins and two forfeits, the Bucs were never threatened by .
Kris Kendzierski (215), Brandon Baynard (Hwt.), Jimmy Artis (103), Josh Chilcote (119), Josh Abraham (130) and Keith Brown (135) all pinned their opponents, with Baynard, Chilcote, Abraham and Brown registering their pins in the first period.
David Marvel won by technical fall at 145, as did Pierson at 160. Ian Ferguson and Allan Passwaters won by decisions at 171 and 140, respectively.
Nathan Fleming reached the finals of the annual Milford Invitational before losing to defending state champion Jon Hummel of Lake Forest. Fleming lost to Hummel by pin in 3:48 in the 112 final. Freshman Jimmy Artis also reached the finals at 103 before losing to St. Mark's Jeremy Shaw by pin in 4:56.
