Lake Forest 46, Sussex Central 43

The Golden Knights were outscored by six points in the fourth quarter as they became the 300th victims of Lake Forest head coach Pat Borowski's career.

Central took a 35-32 advantage into the final period but couldn't hold on.

Candace Shockley led the Knights with 17 points. Canesha Gibbs contributed 12 more.

Sussex Central 51, Milford 37

The Golden Knights jumped out to a 26-9 lead over Milford at halftime and never looked back. Central was led by Candace Shockley's 13 points and Brittany Cox's 10 points.

Sussex Tech 61, Sussex Central 40

The Golden Knights fell behind early and never recovered in the Henlopen Conference Northern Division loss. Central trailed Sussex Tech 18-6 after one period and 38-9 at halftime. Candace Shockley's 16 points paced the Knights, who also got 9 points from Danielle Blake.

The Golden Knights got off to a quick lead and never relinquished it in the consolation game of the Wilmington Christian Invitational tournament.

Central took a 17-10 lead after the first quarter and gradually added to it the rest of the way.

The Knights were led by Candace Shockley's season-high 25 points. Andrea Lawrence and Canesha Gibbs aided Shockley with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Brittany Cox contributed 7 points.

The Golden Knights fell behind 41-24 after three quarters in the Henlopen Conference defeat. Candace Shockley paced Central wih 10 points.

Smyrna 34, Sussex Central 23

The Golden Knights sputtered offensively as they managed only 10 points in the first half and 3 in the fourth quarter. Candace Shockley was the only Knight near double figures with 9 points.

Sussex Central 58, Delmar 49

The Golden Knights opened a big halftime lead and held on down the stretch for the victory.

Now 4-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference, Central went up on Delmar 30-15 at halftime and after being outscored by 6 points in the third quarter, held Delmar at bay in the fourth period.

Candace Shockley sparked the win with 15 points. Canesha Gibbs added 13 points, while Andrea Lawrence and Brittany Cox contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Sussex Central 71, Woodbridge 31

The Golden Knights continued to improve as they won for the second time in three outings.

Recording their highest point total of the past two seasons, the Knights got 16 points from Candace Shockley and 14 more from Andrea Lawrence in downing Woodbridge.

The Golden Knights dropped the Henlopen Conference Northern Division contest due to bad first and third periods against the perennial Henlopen North powers.

The Knights allowed 25 points in each of those quarters while scoring only 19 points themselves as they fell to 1-4 in the conference and 1-6 overall.

Brittany Cox and Canesha Gibbs led the Knights in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Golden Knights collected their first win of the season with the Henlopen Conference Northern Division victory.

Brittany Cox and Candace Shockley sparked Central with 9 and 8 points, respectively.

The win improved Central's record to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Mardela (Md.) Tournament
Indian River 56, Sussex Central 43

The Golden Knights appeared to be on their way to their first victory of the season but were overwhelmed by their rivals in the second half of the third-place game of the annual Mardela (Md.) Holiday Tournament.

Central grabbed a 28-20 halftime lead over Indian River but succumbed to the Indians' full-court press in the second half.

The press limited the Knights to just 4 points in the third quarter as they fell behind IR 38-32 entering the fourth quarter.

Candace Shockley led the way for Central with 18 points. Canesha Gibbs scored 11 points and Brittany Cox contributed 9 points.

The loss dropped the Knights to 0-5 overall.

Friday, Dec. 20, 2002
Seaford 83, Sussex Central 31

The Golden Knights ran into another power from the Henlopen Conference Northern Division.

Seaford took a 51-13 lead at halftime and never looked back.

No Knights scored in double figures as they fell to 0-3 in the conference and overall. Brittany Cox led the Knights with 8 points.

Polytech 65, Sussex Central 38

The Golden Knights were no match for powerful Polytech in the Henlopen Conference Northern Division game.

Polytech, which reached the state semifinals a year ago, put the game away with a 26-6 advantage in the second quarter as it took a 39-13 halftime lead.

Now 0-2 in the conference and overall, Central was led by Kim Shockley's 10 points. Sara Lawrence added 8 points and Danielle Blake connected on both of Central's three-pointers for 6 points.

Central visits powerhouse Seaford on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
