Girls' State Tourney ...

All four Sussex County teams were eliminated from the 2000 Delaware state girls' high school basketball tournament with second round losses on Friday, March 3.

Seaford, the highest seed from Sussex County, lost to William Penn 59-34 playing without senior point guard Shiree Halley, who transferred to North Carolina last month due to academic and disciplinary problems.

Indian River, the Henlopen South champion, fell to Padua 48-33, Cape Henlopen lost to Mt. Pleasant 45-35, and Sussex Central was ousted by Henlopen North champion Caesar Rodney 57-39.

In other second round games, A.I. DuPont defeated Delcastle 59-30, St. Mark's downed Christiana 59-29, Glasgow beat Ursuline 55-41, and Caravel whipped Concord 65-26.
