Smyrna 67, Indian River 64 The Indians fell behind early, recovered, but couldn't quite hold on in falling to 2-17 in the Henlopen South and 3-18 overall. Torrez Spence and Antoine Mumford led IR with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Indian River 61, Delmar 59 The Indians collected only their second conference win of the season as they rose to 2-15 in the Henlopen South and 3-16 overall. Brad Morris' two free throws with 6.5 seconds left gave IR a 61-59 lead and helped the Indians snap a 15-game losing streak. Torrez Spence led Indian River with 17 points and Antoine Mumford added 16. Laurel 83, Indian River 64 Indian River fell behind by 16 points at halftime and never challenged. Antoine Mumford scored 15 points and Torrez Spence 10 for the Indians, who fell to 1-15 in the Henlopen South and 2-16 overall. Torrez Spence paced Indian River with 20 points including four three-pointers. Antoine Mumford and Brad Morris added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Cape Henlopen 57, Indian River 53 The Indians caused 21 turnovers but committed 27 to fall to their seventh straight loss. Torrez Spence was the only Indian in double figures with 15 points. Spence nailed three 3-pointers. Delmar 77, Indian River 60 The Indians lost their third straight to fall to 1-4 in the Henlopen South and 2-5 overall. The Indians were tied with the division leaders, 36-36, at halftime but were outscored 19-10 in the third period. Antoine Mumford's 16 points led IR. Torrez Spence contributed 12 more. Laurel 76, Indian River 64 The Indians lost their third straight game due to a slow start in which they scored only four points in the first period. Antoine Mumford was the only Indian in double figures with 19 points. IR is now 1-3 in the Henlopen South and 2-4 overall. Stephen Decatur (Md.) 74, Indian River 50 The Indians lost their second straight with the non-conference defeat in Berlin, Md. Decatur took a 29-17 halftime lead and put the game away with a 22-12 advantage in the third quarter. Antoine Mumford was the only Indian in double figures with 10 points. Woodbridge 88, Indian River 76 The Indians' two-game winning streak was snapped despite a career-high 23 points from Mike Lord. Antoine Mumford contributed 17 points as IR fell to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the Henlopen South. DeAndre Matthews added 11 points. Mumford hit three three-point field goals. Indian River 87, Red Lion Academy 34 The Indians turned their long losing streak into a winning streak with their second straight victory in as many nights. Antoine Mumford led the way with 18 points as the Indians jumped ahead 25-4 after the first period, 49-20 at halftime and 73-24 after three quarters. Mike Lord added 16 points for IR, which saw 11 players score in the game. Torrez Spence and James Bratton contributed 10 points apiece. Indian River 60, Milford 57 Indian River, which traditionally had one of downstate Delaware's best programs, finally broke the 25-game losing streak that extended over 3 seasons with the shocking Henlopen South victory. They cut the gap with a 15-9 edge in the third quarter and completed the comeback with a 12-6 advantage in the final period. Torrez Spence contributed 14 points and Mike Lord 10 to the win. Before its 0-23 record last year, IR had averaged 17 wins a season in the 1990s and won 18 Henlopen Conference titles in the previous 29 years. Lake Forest 67, Indian River 43 The Indians' losing streak reached 25 straight over the past two seasons. IR fell 15 points behind the Spartans in the first period as Lake Forest began defense of its Henlopen South championship. Torrez Spence led Indian River with 14 points in coach Curt Bunting's debut.
