Wednesday, March 1, 2000 Delcastle 49, Laurel 29 The Bulldogs' season ended at 13-10 with the loss to the Cougars. Laurel had no one in double figures and was led by Courtney Hughes' 6 points. The Bulldogs trailed 26-13 at halftime and were outscored 14-5 in the third period. Delcastle rose to 11-11 and moved on to a second round contest against A.I. DuPont. Laurel 50, Delmar 40 The Bulldogs beat their neighboring rivals behind a stifling defense that allowed only 3 points in the first period. In rising to 12-7 in the division and 12-9 overall, Laurel got 19 points from Tasha Chase. Bootsie Hopkins and Courtney Hughes added 14 and 10 points, respectively. Indian River 36, Laurel 34 The Bulldogs lost a seven-point third quarter lead and much of a shot at the Henlopen South title as they fell to 11-8 in the South and 12-9 overall. Laurel was led by Tiffany McCrae and Tasha Chase, who scored 10 points apiece. Dover 40, Laurel 37 Laurel suffered a major blow to its Henlopen South title hopes with the loss to the underdog Senators. Tasha Chase paced the Bulldogs with 16 points but it wasn't enough to keep them from falling to 11-7 in the South and 12-8 overall. Laurel 35, Woodbridge 29 Bootsie Hopkins' 10 points and Tiffany McCrea's 12 rebounds sparked the Bulldogs to the Henlopen South win. An 11-5 run in the third period helped Laurel rise to 10-6 in the division and 11-7 overall. Heather White contributed 8 points for the Bulldogs. Laurel 34, Milford 30 Laurel improved to 9-6 in the Henlopen South and 10-7 overall as Tasha Chase scored 13 points. The Bulldogs outscored Milford 11-7 in the final period to record the win. Laurel had led 17-11 at halftime but was outscored 12-6 in the third quarter to enter the fourth quarter tied. Laurel 37, Lake Forest 23 The Bulldogs rose to 8-6 in the Henlopen South and 9-7 overall behind Bootsie Hopkins' 15 points and 4 steals. Laurel led 23-6 at halftime and never looked back. Smyrna 39, Laurel 32 The Bulldogs lost a pivotal Henlopen South game despite 12 points from Tiffany McCrea. Laurel was within three points entering the fourth quarter but was outscored 18-14 in the period. Caesar Rodney 56, Laurel 24 The Bulldogs were no match for the Henlopen North leaders on this night. Courtney Hughes led Laurel with 7 points. Laurel scored just 8 points in the first half and trailed 32-8 at halftime. Sussex Tech 44, Laurel 38 The Bulldogs let a 19-5 first quarter lead slip away in falling to 5-3 in the Henlopen South and 6-4 overall. Bootsie Hopkins paced Laurel with a season-high 23 points. Laurel 37, Polytech 35 The Bulldogs overcame a 7-point halftime deficit to rise to 5-2 in the Henlopen South and 7-3 overall. Laurel was led by Heather White's 11 points as it moved into a first place tie in the division with Indian River. Tiffany McCrea collected 13 rebounds as the Bulldogs scored 25 second half points after managing just 12 in the first half. Seaford 57, Laurel 46 The Bulldogs gave the defending Henlopen Conference champions a battle in falling to 4-2 in the division. Tasha Chase and Lacesha Hopkins scored 12 points apiece for the Bulldogs. Indian River 36, Laurel 31 The Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season to drop into second place in the Henlopen South behind Indian River. No Bulldogs scored in double figures but senior center Heather White finished with 9 points and junior forward Courtney Hughes with 7 points. Laurel 45, Snow Hill (Md.) 36 The Bulldogs rose to 5-0 with the nonconference victory over the Seahawks from the Bayside Conference. Courtney Hughes led the way with 19 points while Tasha Chase contributed 12 points for Laurel, which took a commanding 24-12 lead at halftime. Laurel 49, Woodbridge 26 The Bulldogs stormed to a 22-6 halftime lead on the way to rising to 4-0 in the Henlopen South and overall. Courtney Hughes and Tasha Chase paced Laurel with 14 points each. Laurel 46, Milford 33 The Bulldogs remained unbeaten behind Lucesha Hopkins' 22 points. Laurel is 3-0 and atop the Henlopen South standings with Indian River. Tiffany McCrae contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds and Tasha Chase added 9 points. Laurel 42, Lake Forest 31 Laurel stayed unbeaten and in a tie for first place in the Henlopen South behind Tasha Chase's 23 points. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in the South and overall. Chase was aided by Tiffany McCrae's 7 points. Laurel 27, Smyrna 23 Courtney Hughes' 8 points and 13 rebounds guided the Bulldogs to the Henlopen Conference Southern Division victory.
