Friday, March 3, 2000 Caesar Rodney 57, Sussex Central 39 The Golden Knights' season ended with their third loss to the champions of the Henlopen North. The Knights lost the three games to CR this season by an average of 25 points. Sussex Central finished its season at 13-10. The die was cast in the second round when the Knights fell behind 18-4 after the first quarter. They were outscored 21-10 in the third quarter. Kaneisha Trott led Central with 12 points and 20 rebounds. Davita Mumford added 8 more points. The Knights played the game without Shaneka Gibbs, the team's second leading scorer, due to personal reasons. Wednesday, March 1, 2000 Sussex Central 38, Smyrna 26 Kaneisha Trott dominated inside as the Golden Knights rose to 13-9 and advanced to a second round contest against second-seeded Caesar Rodney at Polytech on March 3 at 8 p.m. Trott scored 22 points and collected 21 rebounds to help the Knights rebound from an awful first quarter that saw them score only 2 points. The Knights overcame that 9-2 deficit, however, and took a 15-13 lead at halftime. Central eventually put the game away in the fourth quarter by outscoring Smyrna 15-6. Shaneka Gibbs scored 10 points for the Knights. Sussex Central 49, Sussex Tech 38 The Golden Knights used a season-high 17 points by Devita Mumford to get past their neighborhood rivals. Kanesha Trott scored 12 points for the Knights, who took a 29-19 halftime lead on the way to rising to 12-6 in the Henlopen North and 12-8 overall. Sussex Central 57, Woodbridge 23 The Golden Knights got 8 points or more from five different players including a team-high 12 points by Shaneka Gibbs. Kaneisha Trott and Charmaine Reid scored 9 points apiece for Central. Sussex Central 54, Cape Henlopen 53 Shaneka Gibbs and Kaneisha Trott combined for 35 points to lead the Golden Knights. Gibbs scored 19 points and Trott 16 as Central rose to 10-6 in the Henlopen North and 10-8 overall. Sussex Central led 42-37 after three quarters and held on in the fourth period for the win. Laurel 46, Sussex Central 41 (OT) The Golden Knights couldn't make Kaneisha Trott's 18 points pay off as they fell to 9-6 in the Henlopen North and 9-8 overall with the overtime loss. Shaneka Gibbs scored 11 points for Central. Sussex Central 42, Dover 25 The Golden Knights held Dover to just 13 points over the final three periods to rise to 8-4 in the Henlopen North and 8-5 overall. The Knights' leading scorers were Kaneisha Trott with 14 points and Clarissa Evans with 10. Caesar Rodney 71, Sussex Central 39 The Golden Knights fell behind the Henlopen North leaders 36-15 at halftime and never challenged. Kaneisha Trott led the Knights with 13 points. Sussex Central 39, Delmar 32 The Golden Knights broke open a close game with a 13-4 advantage in the third quarter to rise to 7-2 in the Henlopen North and 7-3 overall. Shaneka Gibbs sparked the Knights with 11 points including a three-pointer. Sussex Central 34, Smyrna 31 Sussex Central rose to 6-2 in the Henlopen North and overall despite posting one of their lowest scores of the season. Kneisha Trott's 12 points helped the Knights hold on to a 21-15 halftime lead to remain two games behind Caesar Rodney in the division chase. Sussex Central 57, Lake Forest 37 The Golden Knights were led by Kneisha Trott's 20 points and 15 rebounds in rising to 5-2 in the Henlopen North and overall. Davita Mumford added 11 points and 12 rebounds to help the Knights stay close in the North race. Sussex Central 39, Milford 35 The Knights overcame a third quarter deficit to rise to 4-2 in the Henlopen North and overall. Kaneisha Trott sparked the Knights with 11 points. Shaneka Gibbs contributed 8. Sussex Central 46, Sussex Tech 43 The Golden Knights overcame a big halftime deficit to rise to 3-2 in the Henlopen North and overall. The Knights trailed by 11 points at halftime but behind Shaneka Gibbs and Sandy Samcell mounted a successful second half comeback. Gibbs finished with 14 points and Samcell with 13. Sussex Central 41, Polytech 19 The Knights are 2-2 in the Henlopen North and overall despite not placing any players in double figures. Kaneisa Trott led the way with 8 points. Clarissa Evans, Davita Mumford and Cramelle Mumford added 6 points apiece. The Knights led 23-10 at halftime and were never challenged. Seaford 41, Sussex Central 28 Kaneisha Trott scored 12 points for the Knights but they were never really in the game as they trailed by 15 points at halftime. The Knights are 1-2 in the Henlopen North and overall. Sussex Central 46, Dover 17 The Golden Knights rebounded from their opening loss to whip the Senators behind Kaneisha Trott's 14 points, 10 rebounds and 9 blocks. The Knights also got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Shaneka Gibbs in rising to 1-1 in the Henlopen North and overall. Caesar Rodney 52, Sussex Central 27 Davita Mumford's 8 points led Sussex Central in the season-opening Henlopen Conference Northern Division loss.
