Indian River's Quinn Revel banged his head early in his final but recovered to beat Milford's Mitch Harding 19-5 in the 112 final. Revel attended wrestling camps all summer in preparation for the 1999-2000 season and has been working with IR coach Kurt Howell since 7th grade:

"I just hit my head hard and went dizzy for a second. It's (conference title) been a goal of mine since last season after I placed fourth. I really wanted to win. I guess I just wasn't thinking after I got hurt tonight and went all out. I'm going to try for a first at states. That's my goal. We'll see what happens. Coach is a great coach, outstanding. He's helped me with my aggressiveness, knowing I can win."

Sussex Central's Corey Strohmeyer beat Dover's James Sacra 5-0 to win the 130-pound title. Strohmeyer beat Sacra 12-1 during the regular season. The junior is the older brother of Sussex Central sophomore 125-pounder Casey Strohmeyer.

"It doesn't feel much different (to be a conference champion). I had already beaten everybody in the regular season. At the beginning of the season I didn't know where I was (in the conference rankings) but towards the middle a conference championship was my goal."

Laurel's Adam Ralph upset defending state champion James Russial of Caesar Rodney 3-2 for the 135-pound title. Ralph used an escape with less than 10 seconds left for the victory. Ralph was a conference champion at 103 as a freshman but after earning the first seed in the conference tourney last year he failed to make weight.

"I've never wrestled him (Russial) before. He's tough. I just thought of winning the conference and that boosted me up a little bit (for his winning escape). I just tried to beat him. He's tough."

Sussex Central's Teddy Thompson avenged a regular season loss to Seaford's Kyle Shedaker with a 16-5 victory over Shedaker in the 145-pound final. Thompson, the defending state champ at 145, has also lost a couple of matches this season in the 152 weight class.

"I just stepped it up a notch (against Shedaker). Everybody's been riding me, saying I'm a returning state champion and shouldn't be losing. I just had to step it up a little. Coach Baxter worked with me this week on my feet and told me what I was doing wrong. A couple of weeks ago, I felt that maybe I did get lucky winning states last year but the coaches told me 'You've done it once and you can do it again.' "

Sussex Tech's Jimmy Hudson became the first wrestler at his school to win a conference title when he beat Caesar Rodney's Tony Harris 9-3 for the 189-pound championship with a 3-point near fall late in the match. He had finished second in the conference twice but trained all summer in preparation for this season. He lost to Harris by 1 point during the regular season.

"I tried to lock him up and throw a fireman's. When he shot I just wizarded it and went in for the cradle. I trained hard to come back against him (after the regular season loss). I went side to side this time instead of stepping in, sugar-footed it instead of stepping it and didn't tie up as much. I came in this year and worked harder and got it (title). That's been my goal all year."

Sussex Tech's Brandon Morrow beat Dover's Chris Denigris 6-1 with five points in the last 30 seconds to capture the heavyweight championship. Morrow beat Denigris 5-3 during the regular season.

"I tripped him (to get the winning takedown). I fell back and used my weight and he fell too. It was a tough match. I was trying to wear him down and he was trying to wear me down, too."

Sussex Tech coach Dave Rogers was named coach of the year. For more on his story, Click Here.
