Sussex Finalists Saturday's Results Friday's Coverage
Sussex County Online Publisher Corey Strohmeyer on his season and his loss by pin in the 130 final to Hodgson's Mike Welch: "At the start of the season I didn't really think I'd do that much because I didn't do anything last year, but I had a big improvement. (On the pin) I tried to do a move and I didn't clear the arm and he just stuck me." Laurel's Adam Ralph on his 17-5 loss to William Penn's Joe Ferrara in the 135 finals and his overall feelings about his second-place finish: "I just choked in the finals. That's all there was to it. I just choked. I was real nervous with all these people and everything. The pressure just got to me and he wrestled a good match. I'll be looking for next year." Delmar's Nathan Shearer on his loss to Hodgson's Ryan Smith in the 152 final and his 30-1 season: "I still feel good about the season even though I just lost. It was still a good season. I just ran into a real good wrestler." Sussex Tech's Jimmy Hudson on his 4-1 loss to Newark's Bram Walker in the 189 finals and helping to turn Tech's program around this year: "he knew my cradle was coming. he had those long legs and i didn't have good leverage and coujldn't get him over. this year we had a great coach (second-year coach Dave Rogers). Coach Rogers came in last year and changed our attitude all around. He pushed us in practice, taught us moves, taught us attitude. He made a real difference." |
