Greenwood Delaware, population 656, is a small town on U.S. 13. Founded in 1856, chartered in 1858, and incorporated in 1901, Greenwood consisted of only eight houses, two stores and a hotel shortly after the Civil War. It has grown some since then, but still maintains a small village atmosphere except for the summer months when beach traffic comes through. The town was named after the holly forest surrounding it.
